Overview

Periodically, you may want or need to update the database password for the SQL User PSUser that is used by DBPXL to connect to the database. Each computer where DBPXL is installed will need to be updated in order for it to be able to connect to the underlying database that it uses.

To do this, you will need to perform the following steps:

Update Steps
  • 1) Create Updated Configuration File: Open Excel and select DBPXL - System Settings from the main ribbon. Then press the Configure button to open the Local Database Configuration screen. For User Account Password, enter the new password. Press the button Save and save the file, PSConfig.txt. Then press the Cancel button (you do not need to update the stored password yet). Close Excel.
  • 2) Copy Configuration File: Copy the file created in step 1, PSConfig.txt, to each machine in the folder c:\program files\pensionsoft\dbpxl).
  • 3) Update PSUser Password in SQL Server: Open SQL Management Studio and then, in Object Explorer, expand the Security - Logins tree, right-click PSUser, and then choose Properties from the resulting menu. Enter/reenter the password and press the OK button. If you are also updating DB Precision and have already completed this step for that update, you can skip this step.
  • 4) Confirm the Password Update: Open Excel and confirm that you do not get the password configuration prompt.
