Reported Amount Projection Assumptions
This page covers the two closely related screens used to define how a Reported Amount is treated beyond the calculation date. Most screen items are shared, but the valuation version includes two additional options.
Screen Versions
- Assumptions Reported Amount: opens from a Reported Amount on the Calculation Assumption Provision screen. It provides the shared no-projection, fixed annual increase, and fixed annual amount settings described below.
- Valuation Assumptions Amount: opens from a Reported Amount on the Basic tab of the Valuation Assumption Provision screen. It provides all shared settings and adds a table-based projection method and an option to use only the most current year of amounts.
There are no screen items that appear only on the Assumptions Reported Amount screen.
Shared Screen Items
- Do not project this amount (assume zero for future amounts): prevents the Reported Amount from being projected beyond the calculation date and assumes zero for future amounts. Selecting this box disables the projection-method settings.
-
Assume Fixed Annual Increase (0.03 = 3%): projects the Reported Amount using the annual percentage entered in the adjacent field. Enter 0 for a level projection with no annual increase.
-
Handling of Final Partial Amount: controls whether and how the final partial amount is used to establish the projection.
- Include final partial amount when projecting: includes the final partial amount when developing projected amounts.
- Annualize final partial amount when projecting: annualizes the included final partial amount before it is used in the projection.
- Final Full Amount: specifies how the final full amount is treated when a partial amount is available. The choices are Ignore (if partial is available), Is a Minimum, and Is a Maximum.
- Determine projection base by using reporting frequency: uses the Reported Amount's reporting frequency when determining the projection base.
-
Handling of Final Partial Amount: controls whether and how the final partial amount is used to establish the projection.
-
Assume Fixed Annual Amount: projects the value entered in the adjacent field as the fixed annual amount. For example, an Hours field could use 2,080 to assume that participants work 2,080 hours per year.
- Adjust fixed amount for partial periods: prorates the fixed amount for partial periods.
- If no amounts exist, assume an amount on hire date: begins using the fixed amount on the participant's hire date when no Reported Amounts exist.
- Override projection base with user value: allows the selected User Value input to override the defined projection base when a value is entered during a calculation.
Valuation-Only Screen Items
- Based on Table: projects the Reported Amount using annual increases from the selected Salary Scale Table instead of a fixed annual increase or fixed annual amount.
- Only use amount from most current year: limits the valuation calculation to Reported Amounts from the most current year and excludes older amounts.
