Periodically, you may want or need to update the database password for the SQL User PSUser that is used by DB Precision to connect to the database. Each Network Client installation including Internet Controllers must also be updated or users will not be able to properly open DB Precision after that password has been updated. Instead, users will be prompted to enter the new password for PSUser which they will likely not know.
In order for users to avoid this prompt, you will need to perform the following steps:
Update steps
Create Updated Configuration File: Open DB Precision and select File - Options from the main ribbon. Then press the Connection button to open the database configuration screen. For User Account Password, enter the new password. Check the box Save configuration to file and press the Ok button (green check). Close DB Precision.
Copy Configuration File: Copy the file created in step 1, PSConfig.txt, to each machine (including all Internet Controllers) where DB Precision is installed. This file must be put in the same folder where the main executable, pension.exe, is located (for most installations of DB Precision, this can be found in the folder c:\program files\pensionsoft\db precision).
Update PSUser Password in SQL Server: Open SQL Management Studio and then, in Object Explorer, expand the Security - Logins tree, right-click PSUser, and then choose Properties from the resulting menu. Enter/reenter the password and press the OK button.
Confirm the Password Update: Open DB Precision and confirm that you do not get the password configuration prompt and close/reopen all Internet Controllers and then test that the portal is still functioning.
