Portal Server Requirements
For most of our customers, PensionSoft hosts the server that is used to provide online portal access to participants and pension plan sponsors (click here to view our standard portal login page).

However, for those customers that host the portal themselves, a web server must be separately maintained to provide this portal access. This server must include the following:

  • RAM: 16 GB or higher.
  • Hard Drive: 100 GB or larger. We recommend an SSD drive if available.
  • Operating System: Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2016, or Windows Server 2019.
  • Internet Information Server (IIS): Version 8.5 or higher.
  • SQL Server: SQL Server 2012 or higher.
  • Domain Name System (DNS): it is your group's responsibility to select and maintain a site name and configure DNS.
  • SSL Certificate: your group must purchase and renew this certificate for the chosen website name.

Portal Installation Steps
Once the portal server has been set up with the requirements described above, we will send you a series of files that will then be copied to a folder on that server. IIS must then be configured to point to that folder for the portal's website name. In addition, the installed certificate must be configured here for the site.

As new portal releases become available, we will send you updated copies of files which will overlay all prior files within the portal site's folder. In addition, if any database changes are required for the portal server, we will provide you with SQL Stored Procedures to process those updates.
