Important notes for this update

To enhance application security, we have implemented controls on the availability of downloads through our web server. In order to download any of the files below for this and all future release of DB Precision, you will need to be whitelisted by PensionSoft. Please provide us the IP address of your network prior to downloading any of these files. Once whitelisted, you will be able to download similar to earlier releases. If you do not know your IP address, open DB Precision, press on the question mark (?) in the top right to open About DB Precision, and then press the View button.

For Auto Updates to work with this release, the current version installed must be Version 2026.26.5.7: Patch 1.01 or Patch 1.02. If an older version is installed or if the version is the latest but without a patch, then you will need to update using a setup file or downloaded zip file as described below.

If performing regression tests on your plans between Version 2026.26.5.7 and Version 2026.26.7.30 using a fixed calculation date as opposed to one that reflects participant DOT if one exists, you may find that some results have changed. Most changes will likely pertain to participants who have bad or incomplete data, and we are confident that these changes are valid. A summary of changes made to DB Precision that may impact calculated results is as follows:

• Handling of Two-Day Periods: DBP will now create a period that starts and ends on consecutive days for Average Earnings Definitions and Account Definitions, whereas previously, the system would disregard such periods. This could cause a participant who was hired and terminated in consecutive days (hired on 1/1/2000 and terminated on 1/2/2000) to see some calculated values go from zero to non-zero.
• Assumption of DOT in Export Definitions: DBP will no longer add an assumed termination date (DOT) on CALCDATEINPUT if a date of termination already exists in the person's record, when the "Treat Calculation Date as final employment date" checkbox is checked.
• Automatic Vesting at Normal Retirement Date: DBP will no longer deem a person 100% vested by virtue of working past NRD if the calculation date used is on or after NRD, but the person's actual termination date is prior to NRD.
• Derived Date Results: Results should now be more accurate when handling unique situations such as consecutive termination dates to end an employment history.
• Service Definitions Contingent on Reported Amount Values: Results should now be more accurate when handling unique situations such as multiple values on the same date, or values reported on termination date.
• Controller IP Address Specification: For customers that use our Secure Pension Portal, we will be implementing a new optional added layer of protection that will restrict communication of all Internet Controller activity to specific IP addresses. Once at least one IP address has been specified for your group, Internet Controller activity (push or pull) from any other IP address will be blocked by our SMART Firewall. We are encouraging all customers to enter the IP addresses of each Internet Controller to add this new layer of protection which will be included with the next portal release.

Update scenarios

• Updates with No Maximum Version Set: If DB Precision is set to allow itself to automatically update on your network, then there is nothing further for you to do other than for users to allow DB Precision to update itself when opened.
• Updates with Maximum Version Set: If DB Precision is set to automatically update itself, and a maximum version is set on your network, go to System - System Settings - General on the main ribbon of DB Precision and change the Maximum Version Allowed to 2026.26.8.4. Once this has been completed, there is nothing further for you to do. All users will be prompted to allow DB Precision to automatically update any outdated versions.
• Disabled Automatic Updates: If your company is not using automatic updates (note that automatic update requires that all users either have Windows Administrator rights, or have write-access to the PensionSoft Program Files folder), you will need to manually update each machine that currently has DB Precision installed. To update DB Precision to the latest version, please use one of the methods described below. Please once again note that to complete this update, you will need Windows Administrator rights or folder write-access to each machine being updated.
• DBPHBM: If DB Precision is running as an Internet Controller using the DB Precision Heartbeat Monitor (DBPHBM), log on to the Internet Controller server as a System Administrator and 1) Open Services (in Windows), 2) Right-click DB Precision Heartbeat Monitor and select Stop, 3) Install the application using Setup64 or one of the other methods described below, and then 4) Right-click DB Precision Heartbeat Monitor in Services once again and select Start.

Update using latest setup file

Running the latest setup file is the easiest way to manually update an existing installation of DB Precision and is the method that we recommend. Our setup files are designed to simply overlay your existing installation. To update using this method, download the following setup file and follow the prompts.

• Setup64.msi (64-bit installer)

Download, unzip, and copy updated files

Rather than running the setup file above, you can alternatively download all files that have been modified or added with this release and manually replace each of these files.

• 1) Download Updated Files: download the following file to a temporary directory such as the User's Downloads folder and then unzip/extract. You will not be able to download directly to the Program Files folder.
  
  If you have any problem downloading using this link due to security settings on your network and the file does not already have a .txt extension, copy the link to your browser's address bar but add ".txt" to the link text and once downloaded, remove the ".txt" from the file name.

• 2) Unblock Downloaded Files: Unblock the downloaded zip file from step 1 above by doing the following:
  
  
  • Right-click the file name, DBP.zip, and select Properties from the resulting menu
  • On the General tab, press the Unblock button or check the Unblock checkbox and press OK.
• 3) Extract All Files to a Temporary Folder: Right-click the file name, DBP.zip, and select Extract All...from the resulting menu and choose a folder to extract to.
• 4) Copy All Extracted Files to Program Files: Copy all extracted files to the folder "C:\Program Files\PensionSoft\DB Precision". To complete this step, you will need either Windows Administrator rights or write-access to the PensionSoft Program Files folder for each machine being updated.
• 5) Test the Update: Launch DB Precision, log in, and confirm that you do not receive any message indicating the DB Precision is out of date.
