A Service Definition combines participant eligibility, effective-dated accrual rules, definition-level limits, and optional planwide service designations.

• Description: Identifies the definition in formulas and selection lists.
• Eligibility Formula: Limits the participants for whom the definition is evaluated. A blank formula allows all participants to be evaluated under the eligibility provisions. Open the Service Eligibility screen to configure the effective-dated age, service, points, and override requirements.
• Earliest Eligibility / Acquisition Date: Formula that establishes the earliest possible service accrual date.
• Latest Accrual / Freeze Date: Formula that establishes the latest possible service accrual date. Open the Plan Service Provision screen to configure the effective-dated elapsed-time and Reported Amount accrual rules within the definition.
• Service Maximum / None: Caps the total service result. None removes the definition-level cap.
• Bank Service Maximum / None: Caps service earned from an hours or amount bank.
• Only accrue service while / Reported Amount / Value: Limits accrual to periods in which the selected Reported Amount equals the entered value.
• Treat earliest amount as occurring on hire date: Extends the earliest selected Reported Amount to the participant's hire date.
• Override service accrual start date: Uses the selected Formula Derived Item as the service start date.
• Allow service dates beyond freeze: Allows Average Earnings and account calculations to reference post-freeze service periods without increasing the frozen service result.
• View item in QuickCalc: Makes the definition available in QuickCalc (Currently unavailable)

• Participation Service: Supplies the plan's Date of Participation and participation service to formulas, valuation detail, and standard extracts.
• Credited Service: Supplies the plan's Credited Service Date and credited service to formulas, valuation detail, and standard extracts.
• Vesting Service: Supplies the plan's Vesting Service Date and vesting service to formulas, valuation detail, and standard extracts.

Only one active Service Definition may hold each planwide indicator. Definitions used solely for UC, PUC, or EAN attribution may leave all three indicators clear.
