Microsoft Word Macro Security
Overview

There may be some situations users are unable to properly open Word documents that are macro-enabled. This oftentimes occurs if the files being opened are stored on a network drive and came either directly from PensionSoft without then being saved or came from another network.

To handle this, we recommend that you add the location where the file resides as a Trusted Location.

Adding trusted location in Word
  • Open Trust Center: In Microsoft Word, select Options - Trust Center, and then press the Trust Center Settings button.
  • Add Location: In Trust Center, select the Trusted Locations tab. If the folder/location that is being added is located on a network drive, you will need to check the box Allow Trusted Locations on my network (not recommended). Then press the Add new location... button.
  • Choose Location: On the Microsoft Office Trusted Location dialog, check the box Subfolders of this location are also trusted and then press the Browse... button to navigate to the folder being added as trusted. Press OK on both this dialog and the Trust Center dialog box to save this setting.
